Movie Pick of the Week

To my fellow movie goers, I have a pick for this weekend,

It is the story of two people using each other to make others jealous. When it turns out that the girl Norah wishes to make jealous is Nick's recent ex-girlfriend Tris. Hilarity ensues as the two battle their way through New York City and fall for each other.

Nick is a sensitive musician, who is unlucky in love.

Norah is a safe, play by the rules, girl.

All the while Nick's friends are taking Norah's drunk friend home when she escapes and finds Jesus, literally.

From what I have seen online and in trailers this movie looks to be hilarious, smart, and witty.

Review to come next week.

Thursday Night Debate - Meet me in St. Louis

Whichever way you are leaning this November tonight's Vice Presidential debate should be one for the ages.

On the Democrat side you have Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. Biden has been a U.S. Senator since the end of the Nixon administration, and is currently up for re-election in the Diamond State. Critics of Biden's have noted that he is a bit of a blowhard, often taking too long to answer questions.

On the GOP we have Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, who has taken the country by storm, critics have also been swept away by her sometimes dim-witted charm and of course she has given Tina Fey a reason to return to Saturday Night Live.

After her semi-disastorous interview with Katie Couric and his well failure to keep up with her ever-growing popularity, this could be what decides the election for some undecided voters out there.

In no way I am urging anyone to vote one way over another, as I myself am still torn between both sides in this election. I am urging people to watch tonight's debate as it should be an interesting spectacle.

Chuck must be pissed

Chuck Palahniuk, author of both Choke and Fight Club along with a string of "cult classic" novels, must have had little say in the final cut of Choke, the movie. Either that, or the delayed success of his last book, coupled with what were here at Recognize can only guess is a budding drug problem, has caused him to do anything for money.

Regardless, if you were a fan of the book, don't see the movie. At the midpoint, when every twist starts to unravel itself, the original story falls apart and defines a new path to a more Judy Garland ending.
The Good:
The filter used on the camera throughout the movie gave it that seventies porno flick feel that a reader might glean from the book.
The Bad:
The writing.
Reason not to see the movie with your mother:
Enough sexual content that theres no way the original cut made it by the MPAA on it's first, second, or even seventh try without garnering an NC-17 rating.

Amy Whinehouse Translates into American as "Dirty Whore"

Wow! When you didn't think the over-publicized, over-rated drug addict, Amy Whinehouse, couldn't be worse, she...well....gets worse. Reports came in this week that the young crackhead was loaned a closet of silk dresses from a British designer. According to Carolina, radio personality on the Elvis Duran in the Morning show, Whinehouse got wasted and ralphed all over herself and one of the dresses she'd worn to a club. Upon her return home, she hung the dress back in the closet with the clean dresses. Needless to say, the dresses were sent back to the designer covered in whiskey smelling vomit.

Amy! Who dropped you on your head and told you that going Linda Blair on some dresses was normal behavior?

This one needs to get it together. Or just step out of the lime light so I have more time to focus on more relevant news like the election and Lindsay Lohan's assertion of homosexuality.
